About the Council
COUNCIL'S VISION Your Council's vision statement is "To deliver in an effective manner those services which rightly are the responsibilities of Local Government". This statement reflects Council's commitment to managing resources and assets and encouraging growth in a way that is responsible to the needs of the community and ratepayers.
HISTORY Murrumbidgee Shire was declared in 1906. Today the Shire has a resident population of approximately 2,679 and covers an area of 3,408 sq km. *Note Shire population based on ABS Estimates as at 30th June, 2000.
Murrumbidgee Shire Council has its administrative base and Engineering Department in the historic river town of Darlington Point, with a branch office housing the Health and Building Department at Coleambally.

Your Council has 3 departments to manage and support the operations and functions of Council and service the needs of residents and to provide assistance where possible to existing and new investors and other groups.
Ordinary Meetings of Council are held each month alternately at Council's Chambers at 21 Carrington Street, Darlington Point and Council Meeting Room, Coleambally These meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 1.30pm.
